Bid a new customer before you quote it

Management — rates & margin are owner-only

Start the way you'd start with a seasoned ops manager: ask the question. Ask Operator91 “can we cover it?” and it walks you into the Bid Planner — where the prospect's lanes become drivers, trucks, and synergies with the work you already run.

A manager asks Operator91 about a live RFP, follows its button into the Bid Planner, and projects the bid — drivers, concurrent tractors vs the real fleet, and backhaul pairings — in one pass.

The steps

  1. Ask first. Open Ask Operator91 (bottom-right on every screen) and describe the bid in plain words — “Basin Energy wants a quote, 13 loads a day, can we cover it?” It answers with how to find out and a button straight to the Bid Planner.
  2. Start a bid named after the prospect. Enter the work as lanes — origin, destination, miles or transit time, loads per day, AM/PM — or upload the prospect's own spreadsheet and the lanes fill themselves.
  3. Set the fleet facts: tick slip-seat if AM and PM drivers share tractors, and pick the trailer type this work needs.
  4. Press Project capacity. You get drivers and units standalone — units are concurrent tractors, checked against what you actually own: operational trucks, spares, down units, and trailers of that type.
  5. Read the synergies: bid lanes that deliver where your existing work starts pair as backhauls — empty legs become paid legs — and your book's real slack from the last two weeks absorbs part of the need. “With your current book” is what you'd truly add, and any trailer shortfall is flagged before you sign.
  6. Save the bid and mark it won or lost later — your bid history becomes data.

Gotchas

Good to know: Every assumption the math used — driver day, load/unload minutes, deadhead, empty returns, slip-seat, trailer type — is printed under the results. Change them to match how the prospect's work actually runs.
Good to know: Backhaul pairing matches by site name — the bid's delivery site must be spelled like your existing lane's origin for the pair to register.
Good to know: Proposed rates, revenue, and margin are owner-only — managers project capacity and never see money, on screen or in the API.
