The pump sign lies. The optimizer ranks every stop by the IFTA de-taxed, discount-applied price — limited to what the truck can reach on its tank and the driver can legally make on their clock.

Recommend ranks the stops: the higher pump price wins on the real math — net, de-taxed, detour-adjusted — with the “why” spelled out per row.

The steps

Open Fuel — the overview shows spend, gallons, discount saved, and fleet MPG by truck and driver, fed by your fuel card connector.
Open Optimizer, pick the truck (and driver, for the HOS gate), set tank %, and press Recommend.
Read the ranking: net $/gal after the card discount, the de-taxed price (the IFTA math), detour cost, and the estimated total — with the “why” spelled out on every row.
Press Save as fuel plan to freeze today's options and send the plan to the driver's tablet as the fuel plan card.
End of day, each fill reconciles against the plan — on-plan, fallback, or off-plan with the driver's reason — and becomes a coaching note, never a write-up.

Gotchas

Good to know: A stop is only recommended if it's reachable on the remaining tank and legal on the driver's clock — the plan never asks for a stop the driver can't make.

Good to know: Cheapest pump price is often the wrong answer — the demo clip shows a station $0.20 higher at the pump winning on the real math.
